About CHRISTLIKE AGRO-TOURISM FOR RACIAL EQUALITY WELLNESS CENTER &SERVICES

Location:

2260 DIVISION STREET NW, OLYMPIA, WA 98502, US

Mission Statement

To provide a safe farm stay, holistic retreat and wellness program to combat Post-Traumatic Slave Syndrome by focusing on Spirituality, AgroTourism, and Racial Justice.

Description

C.A.R.E. was founded in 2020 during the height of the pandemic as a result of my own spiritual awakening and pursuit of an eco-friendly community that was egalitarian and diverse. There were many things that impacted me as a black, Pansexual mother with disabilities. I, myself, had to learn a lot to work through PTSS and while backpacking Europe for 6 grueling months and volunteering on farms in Washington and Oregon, I came to appreciate and respect the healing abilities of these tools and became purposed with introducing them to my community in the pursuit of self-actualization and enlightenment. If we are to help others, we must first heal ourselves. If we are to progress as a community, we have to first feel safe to explore our own Spirituality and history, within our own walls, without outside triggers.

Our first pilot program, the C.A.R.E. Re-Entry Program (SREP), is a research program to serve young black adults after incarceration at no/low cost to help them reintegrate into their communities and avoid recidivism. Our program includes a Healing Circle (detox, meditation and yoga), Nature Therapy, Self Advocacy training, Social Racialization training, and Individualized Counseling to address anger, self-esteem, and community socialization. We have partnered with local nonprofit farms, entrepreneurs, mentors, therapists, social workers, DEI trainers, and social activists to facilitate training and provide a strong support network.
