One Community is a nonprofit all-volunteer sustainability think tank. Our volunteer team fluctuates between 100-200 team members and has included over 1000 volunteers representing more than 60 different countries. We're creating a globally applicable vermiculture toilet design for the safe and sustainable processing and reuse of human waste. We're seeking Mechanical Engineers to help finish researching, problem solving, modeling, and testing the design. SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Required:

  • BSME or equivalent (or near completion)
  • Solid modeling experience
  • Access to SolidWorks (or similar solid modeling software that can open SolidWorks files)
  • Able to perform basic stress analysis calculations
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • 10+ hours a week availability
  • 2+ months availability
  • Must attend 1 hour a week virtual team meeting (weekdays at 7 PM EST)
  • Excellent documentation skills

Desired:
  • FEA experience
  • Access to FEA software (bonus if you have ANSYS FEA software)
  • Understanding of basic manufacturing/assembly techniques
