We know not when that hour will come, but we can help those who are close to experiencing their final hour. Volunteering for hospice makes a big difference in the life of the patient and their family.

Have you ever had one of those friends that can just sit with you, without asking questions, without needing a reason, and just let you be what you need to be? That is what a volunteer can offer a patient in hospice. Sometimes the effort it takes just to answer questions, or respond to medical staff or family members is too much! A volunteer comes with a simple presence, no agenda, a smile, someone to color with or someone who reads to a patient.

Family members need to get out and get groceries, get haircuts, see doctors themselves and are afraid to leave their loved one at home alone. A volunteer can sit with that patient and just provide company. Watch a TV show together, listen to music, talk etc.

Please consider being a hospice volunteer with us, to be with those approaching the 'hour of their death.'
