ORGANIZATION: HERS Breast Cancer Foundation

HERS Breast Cancer Foundation is seeking an administrative volunteer to support a staff member as they provide assessment and fitting services for breast cancer patients for post-surgical products (breast forms/prosthetics, specialty bras, and compression garments) at its Livermore Program Store within the CommonPoint Nonprofit Center.

Tasks include greeting patients, ensuring patient forms are completed, pulling stock from shelves/replacing stock, tidying the fitting space and reception area, and answering calls.

The ideal volunteer will have a compassionate and caring approach with HERS patients and be sensitive to the patients' illness and circumstances. Strict observance of patient confidentiality is required at all times and a background check (paid for by HERS) is required.

  • 10:00 AM to 03:00 PM

We are first and foremost a service for women and women’s health. Our programs enunciate and further fulfill the mission of the foundation to serve all women, including the underserved, in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Our programs are a service designed to help patients overcome the devastating emotional and physical effects of breast cancer treatment. We provide a safe, compassionate environment for breast cancer survivors to be properly fitted for bras, prostheses, lymphedema garments, and wigs. The service and the products of HERS Breast Cancer Foundation are vital to breast cancer patients’ physical and emotional healing.
