Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of youth in our community? StandOUT Youth Mentoring Program is seeking dedicated mentors who are 16 years or older to join our team.
Mentor Responsibilities (for Adult Mentors and Peer-Mentors): As a mentor with StandOUT, your role will be crucial in shaping the future of our youth. You will be responsible for:
- Providing one-on-one mentoring to middle and high school students.
- Offering guidance, support, and a positive role model for our mentees.
- Participating in recreational activities and workshops with the mentees.
- Facilitating group mealtime discussions.
- Committing to the program every Tuesday for 2 hours.
Individuals between the ages of 16-22 will be considered as peer-mentors, offering an opportunity for volunteer or internship hours while helping shape the future of our youth.
Peer-Mentor Criteria: To become a peer-mentor, you must meet the following criteria:
Academic Standing: Mentors in high school or pursuing higher education must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Disciplinary Record: No outstanding disciplinary issues at school or in the community.
Time Commitment: Dedicate 2 hours per week on Tuesdays from 5 PM to 7 PM at the MI3 Center.
Background Check: Anyone over the age of 18 must pass a background check.

Description
StandOUT Youth Mentoring Program is a dynamic and community-driven nonprofit organization founded by Andrea Gonzales. Our mission is to shift the trajectory of youth lives, empowering them to become standout individuals and strong decision-makers through weekly mentoring, skill development, and providing a supportive community.
Program Overview: Our program operates out of the MI3 Center, a renowned recreational center for youth in North Houston. We hold our mentoring sessions every Tuesday, offering a well-rounded experience that includes 40 minutes of one-on-one mentoring, 40 minutes of recreational activities or workshops, and 40 minutes of a group mealtime where meaningful discussions take place.
Mentors: We welcome mentors who are 16 years or older to join us in making a difference in the lives of young individuals in our community. Individuals between the ages of 16 and 22 will be considered peer mentors, gaining valuable volunteer or internship hours while contributing to our mission.
