Mission Statement

To change the trajectory of the lives of our youth by developing strong decision making skills guided by goal setting and tracking.

Description

StandOUT Youth Mentoring Program is a mentorship program for at-risk youth ages 13-17, with a focus on goal-setting and goal tracking. There is a direct correlation between an adolescent's goals and their decision making. Goal setting and tracking is a tool that encourages youth to focus on academic success and aids in decision making. StandOUT is a peer-mentoring program, where youth are mentored by their older peers. Peer-mentors must meet StandOUT's qualifications of a positive and impactful mentor. Our peer-mentors are honor role students, entrepreneurs, a valedictorian, drum major, and stellar role models. We meet weekly with our mentees to discuss and set goals, and track progress towards those goals.

We are currently a school-based mentoring program in the Aldine ISD school district, however this summer we will be launching our first ever community based program, our Teens Summer Mentoring Program. We will meet weekly at a youth center in our community, where students will meet with their mentors, meals will be provided. We will end every meeting with fun games and activities, just as we do during the school year. We are looking for volunteers to help make this expansion as smooth as possible. We are looking for help with fundraising development and coordination, donor and donation recruitment, sponsor recruitment, and managing emails.
