Description
Broadway Community seeks volunteers to help prepare meals for its soup kitchen. Working under the direction of Broadway Community’s Chef and Food Service Director, volunteers will play a central role in creating hundreds of healthy, tasty, and balanced meals that will serve hundreds of community members experiencing homelessness, chronic hunger, and poverty. List of tasks include but are not limited to:
- Helping to prepare produce for cooking
- Work with our Chef and other volunteers to create elements of our lunch menu.
- Clean dishes and other working areas.
- Other duties as assigned
Volunteer Competencies
- Empathy, patience, and compassion.
- The ability to chop and prepare food
- Being a team player.
- The ability to lift 20 pounds.

Over the last 40 years, we have served thousands of New Yorkers experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty.
Our staff, volunteers, and community partners serve with unconditional compassion and empathy.
Here, you can find a broad range of programs including a soup kitchen, a food pantry, a seven-night-a-week shelter, on-site medical services, a computer lab, employment assistance, benefits enrollment, a life skills program, and more.
