South Coast Literacy Council (SCLC) is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that was started in 1970. There are currently 16 tutoring centers, with several online and in-person classes.

SCLC is looking for volunteers to tutor English skills (Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing) for Adults.
Teaching experience is not needed; training is provided online by the council and other affiliates.
Training and observing classes are required in order to tutor for SCLC. At least a six month commitment is asked. (Some SCLC tutors have been actively tutoring for more than 30 years.)

South Coast Literacy Council (SCLC) celebrates 53 years of community service. SCLC provides free classes to adults learning English as a Second Language (ESL) from pre-literacy to advanced skill levels. Tutoring is provided in safe small-group environments at various locations throughout south Orange County, CA. Free training is provided to prospective tutors.

South Coast Literacy Council is a member of ProLiteracy.
