Affordable Homes & Communities (AHC), is an affordable housing developer that believes that Housing + Education = Success. We have 41 high school seniors finishing our College & Career Readiness program and preparing to start college - most are the first in their family to take this incredible step.
As part of a Graduation Celebration, we want to give our students gift bags full of supplies they will need in college, below are a few ideas to get you started!
Feel free to get creative with the bag or container you choose to place your items in, ie. using a laundry basket or decorative storage basket.
- $20 Target, Amazon or Visa gift card - a gift card is mandatory for all bags.
- Calendar/planner
- Bedside lamp with built-in charger
- Pens & highlighters
- Pencil cases
- Reusable water bottle/thermos
- Games (ie. Uno, over-the-door basketball hoop, deck of cards etc.)
- Portable laptop tray
- Dorm decorations
- Bedside organizer/shelf
- Anything you can think of!
We ask that each bag have 4-5 items, you can expect to spend $20-30 on the items plus the gift card.
Gift bags can be delivered to AHC, 4108 N 4th St, on May 23rd. A confirmation email will be sent closer to the time.

AHC Inc. is among the largest developers of affordable and mixed-income housing in the Washington-Baltimore metro region. AHC Inc. has developed nearly 7,000 quality affordable homes to help families and individuals build stable lives and strong futures. We provide homes for more than 18,000 people.
AHC’s Resident Services program supports thousands of children, families and senior citizens through on-site programs. We focus primarily on comprehensive education programs; after school, teen, college & career, and summer camp programs for elementary through high school students. The program also provides programs to help adults strengthen their economic stability and build stronger futures for themselves and their families.
