Our Immigrant Services program is looking for volunteers who are bilingual in Bengali, Arabic, Haitian-Creole, and Chinese to support our community outreach work in Queens! Bilingual volunteers play a vital role in connecting our organization with the diverse immigrant community we serve. This role involves actively engaging with community members, promoting awareness of our services, and facilitating connections to resources and support.

Volunteers work closely with our team to contribute to outreach efforts. This may include:

  • Attending community events and gatherings to represent our organization.
  • Providing information about our free programs and services for immigrants, such as English classes and legal services.
  • Conducting educational workshops on relevant topics, such as immigrant rights.
  • Translating our promotional materials and information into additional languages.

Schedule:

  • 2-4 days per month with flexible schedule
  • Community events and outreach activities may take place during weekday mornings, afternoons, and evenings or Saturdays

A multi-service community-based organization in Long Island City Queens, Riis Settlement offers after-school programs for youth, adolescent services, immigrant services, including adult ESOL classes, and Senior Citizen support programs.
