Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Minnesota Spay Neuter Assistance Program (MN SNAP)

  • 2 people are interested

Our check-in volunteers are one of the first faces that clients and their pets see upon arrival the day of surgery, and we are looking for a few good folks!

Are you an animal lover that is great with all types of people, organized, outgoing, and possibly looking for a bit of exercise? This might be a perfect opportunity for you!

We are looking for one (1) special person to help weekly on Wednesdays to help get our clients and their pets checked in for surgery! Client check-in starts at 8:00 a.m. each day (arrival time of 7:45am) and shifts are generally a 2-2.5 hour commitment ending around 10:00-10:30 a.m. This shift is located at our headquarters in Minneapolis. This is a 4 to 6 month minimum commitment.

The basic outline of the position includes, but not necessarily limited to, the following:

  • Greet clients and their pets from a distance to verify that are scheduled for the day and are at the correct time and door
  • Do a pre-check to make sure they have their required documents, ID and other necessary items
  • We are currently utilizing a paging system, so the client typically receives a pager and waits in their car
  • Regulate the number of people going into the building (currently only 1 at a time)
  • Escort animals to the proper area or kennel
  • Label carriers or crates as needed
  • Give parking directions or other information
  • Please note this position includes working outside in varying weather conditions (can be inside between clients)

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

About Minnesota Spay Neuter Assistance Program (MN SNAP)

2822 N Washington Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55411, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to end the suffering and death of Minnesota cats and dogs due to overpopulation by providing both high-quality, affordable and accessible spay and neuter services to those in need, and animal welfare education in the communities we serve. MN SNAP’s mission is simple and effective in reducing pet overpopulation. Our work reduces the influx of homeless pets into rescues and shelters, preventing suffering and death. Our vision is also simple: no cats or dogs suffer or are needlessly euthanized due to pet overpopulation in Minnesota. MN SNAP has completed more than 145,099 low-cost surgeries since April 2010. Using conservative litter estimates for the female pets we’ve sterilized, MN SNAP’s work has prevented the birth of more than 5 million unwanted cats and dogs!

Minnesota Spay Neuter Assistance Program Professional Corporation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides high-quality, high-volume, low-cost spay and neuter services to owned animals within underserved and low-income communities, animals within the rescue and shelter system, and feral cat communities. We reach pets in neighborhoods where cost, transportation or the absence of veterinary services is an obstacle to obtaining spay and neuter services.

MN SNAP was founded by Kim Culbertson, DVM, and a group of animal advocates with the goal of reducing the death and suffering of homeless animals across Minnesota. MN SNAP staff works in a surgically outfitted RV and at its headquarters clinic in North Minneapolis.
