Currently, we are seeking several graphic designers to work with our organization and university partners as part of our "100 Prisoner Book Publishing Literacy Program." Here, we are looking to develop a team of graphic designers to create stunning concepts to form advertising and book covers that stand out from the crowd. As part of our team, your work will carry a value equal to that of our incarcerated authors. Just as they will get a sense of accomplishment every time their work is published, so will you!

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
* Collaborate with freelance illustrators, photographers, designers, production teams, or other parties involved in the publishing and marketing process to create the best package for each book
* Collaborate with the author and publisher for ideas and approval
* Identify concepts: read book copy and manuscripts when necessary to understand what the book cover design and image art should convey
* Research and development: requires a deep understanding of the book that you will be creating a cover for as well as the wider genre it will appeal to
* Visualize and design multiple visual mockups and coordinate the cover design for the books we release for bookshops, libraries, audiobook steaming services, and online retailers
* Create art, graphics and text designs for book cover advertising
* Create a design that fits the book's front cover, back cover, relevant interior pages, and spine
* Develop typography
* Function as a liaison between freelancers and illustrators
* Ensure consistency of artwork, branding, and fonts
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
* Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts or Graphic Design
* Preferred knowledge of the publishing industry
* Two years experience in graphic design
* Knowledge of general book cover trends
* Ability to demonstrate creative flare and a desire to learn
* Ability to met deadlines
* Organized and detail orientated
* Be a "Big Thinker" and collaborator

Description
The United Black Family Scholarship Foundation is a 501c3, nonprofit organization that operates in Oklahoma, California, and New York. Established in 2014, it is a student and volunteer ran organization that was founded by incarcerated activist and author Ivan Kilgore. Our Vision: We believe everyone has a right to education that empowers them with solutions to social and economic problems caused by poverty and racism.
