ORGANIZATION: Mentor's R Us Inc.

We are Mentor's R Us Inc., a dedicated organization committed to empowering individuals to inspire and model sustainable life skills through the engagement in hands on experiences. We are currently seeking talented and motivated individuals to join us.

We are excited to offer volunteer positions for BFA students to renovate our premises, making accommodations for life skill courses, intake appointments and transitional housing for individuals who have been displaced due to unaffordability.

Interns Qualifications

  • Current student pursuing a BFA (or any degree in fine arts or arts education)
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Portfolio required (examples of original artwork)
  • Ability to complete art projects including graphic design and print (e.g., T shirts)
  • Ability to draw, sculpt and paint murals
  • Motivated to lead small groups in creative projects
  • Strong entrepreneurial and artistic flair and creativity
  • Sensitivity to budget constraints and a patient approach
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Clear and fluent English communication is required

Responsibilities

  • Design and bring to life an indoor mural that represents our organization's spirit, adding color and character to our space
  • Work on creating artwork with clients to be auctioned off at fundraisers
  • Lead small groups in creative projects such as creating t shirts or painting on canvases.
  • Help to create creative signs and artwork for our office displays with our clientele as after school projects based on positive themes.
  • Practice their entrepreneurial skills in a growing non-profit organization that is new to Philadelphia.
  • Create a positive impact in the world while gaining real-world work experience
  • Opportunity to conduct outreach and assist with tasks and events
  • Take ownership of the project and manage independently
  • Efficiently oversee your tasks and collaborate with your supervisor

  • Use your skills as a part of a therapeutic process, help fundraise for at risk youth
  • Please note that this is an unpaid role

Description

MRU acknowledges that Inspiration can unlock the keys to hidden potential in youth and adults. Our Programs match real world experiences with dreams that seem unattainable.

This program promises to improve relationships, self-esteem, social & life skills, emotional stability, morals, health and spiritual awareness. Mentor's and Mentees meet in teams for extra support. Activities are pre-arranged by topic to create the most beneficial environment for the youth and the Mentor.

MRU's Independent Living Program: Mentor's & Mentee's will share living quarters as MRU's philosophy expand to the home base. Mentee's will transition through the program in approximately three years until they gain their own independence into society.
