ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Museum Visitor Service Volunteers support Gateway Arch National Park by assisting in the creation of a welcoming, informative, and visitor-centered environment for visitors and staff. The primary tasks of a Museum Visitor Service Volunteer are to be a friendly face for visitors when they enter the Park and offer valuable information to make their experience the most enjoyable. Volunteers may be asked to occasionally assist in educational programming or provide hands-on interpretation for visitors using touch table displays in the museum galleries.

The volunteer program is co-managed by Gateway Arch National Park and Gateway Arch Park Foundation. Together, our program seeks to build a diverse corps of park stewards and to enhance the experiences of both volunteers and visitors.

The Gateway Arch reflects St. Louis' role in the Westward Expansion of the United States during the nineteenth century. The park is a memorial to Thomas Jefferson's role in opening the West, to the pioneers who helped shape its history, and to Dred Scott who sued for his freedom in the Old Courthouse.
