• Reduce patient isolation by providing companionship.
• Increase opportunities for life reflection by engaging patient in conversation, favorite music, or former hobbies.
• Increase socialization by having a friendly visitor checking in.
• Read with non-verbal patients and offer a comforting presence.
• Assist patients with letter writing, email, phone calls, or facilitate virtual connections to the outside world.
• Engage patient in surroundings by enjoying nature, watching television together, chatting about the weather and seasons, or any topic of interest to the patient.
• Play card and board games with patients.
