Want to travel the world and transform the lives of children with cleft lips and palates? We invite you to join us as we work to transform children's lives, one smile at a time.

Alliance for Smiles forever improves and transforms the lives of children and communities impacted by cleft lip and palate by providing free comprehensive treatment, while training and equipping local teams to sustainably provide quality, long-term care.

Alliance for Smiles is looking for volunteers to serve on medical missions in under-served areas of the world. We are recruiting plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists, CRNAs, pediatricians, OR nurses, and PACU nurses.

This year, we've traveled to Guatemala, Ethiopia, Vietnam, and Ecuador, and we're planning additional missions in Ecuador, Bangladesh and beyond.

If you are interested in volunteering with us, please visit allianceforsmiles.org/volunteer for more information or email us at missions@allianceforsmiles.org.

Mission Statement

Alliance for Smiles is a nonprofit organization committed to creating new smiles for children suffering from untreated cleft lip and cleft palate anomalies. Our dedicated teams of volunteers provide comprehensive treatment including free reconstructive surgery for these often neglected children in underserved areas of the world.

Description

Alliance for Smiles (AfS) was founded in October of 2004 by five members of the Rotary Club of San Francisco who had been involved for ten years previously with cleft lip and palate reconstructive surgery. The mission of Alliance for Smiles (AfS) is to repair children’s broken smiles by providing free comprehensive treatment for cleft lip and palate anomalies in under-served areas of the world and train and equip local medical teams to sustainably provide quality, long-term care.

Service Array

Alliance for Smiles functions as an international service project with the following goals:

  1. To provide free reconstructive surgery and dental treatment to children with cleft lip and palate anomalies in underserved areas of the world.
  2. To establish comprehensive cleft treatment centers in collaboration with local professionals and inspire them to support free interdisciplinary treatment programs.
  3. To foster an awareness of the necessity to provide timely comprehensive care for all cleft lip and palate anomalies.
  4. To develop and implement programs to identify causes and support preventive measures to reduce the incidence of cleft lip and palate.
  5. To create international understanding and goodwill by building bridges of friendship among all people.
