Active Seniors 55 or older can earn a tax-free hourly stipend to be a companion to older adults who live alone and no longer drive. Senior Companions are not caregivers or housekeepers - they become friends to lonely and isolated older adults. Senior Companions and their matched clients meet weekly to play games, go shopping or just friendly visiting. They get reimbursed for mileage while serving, get paid for holidays and paid time off among other benefits.

To qualify to be a senior companion you must be 55 or older, still driving and can spare a minimum of five hours a week. If you live alone, your income cannot exceed $29,160, for 2 persons in household income cannot exceed $39,440. However, if your income is more than that you can deduct ALL your medical expenses that can qualify you. You must pass a background check, complete orientation and attend monthly in-service trainings.

Volunteering is always rewarding. Getting paid to volunteer is even better!
