We seek 2 additional Board Members who will be active in supporting our organization - through their expertise, volunteering, donating, and being great ambassadors to the community to promote our organization and cause. We seek people who are passionate about dogs, are well connected socially, and who will contribute in concrete ways to Putnam Service Dogs. The Board meets every 2-3 months, some virtual meetings, and some dinner meetings. Generally meetings held 5:30-7pm or 6-7:30pm, and set on a date that is convenient to all members of the Board. Dinner meetings are generally held in Brewster.

Putnam Service Dogs is a 501(c)3, BBB Acredited, and 2023 Platinum Guidestar nonprofit. We provide free service dogs to people with physical disabilities. Our dogs are mixed breeds, carefully chosen from rescues. We were founded in 2016. Our CEO/Founder is in the process of purchasing a building which we will occupy the ground floor of the 2 floor building. The backyard will be fenced, and it will be our first Residential Training Center. A full time caretaker will be hired, and we will house up to 4 dogs there.

We'll move into a larger, more prominent position in our community with this Residential Training Center. The building is a mixed use building in Brewster, 2453 Route 6. Town approval for this use was approved. We'll have a sign visible from Route 6 in front of the building, and a physical presence. Before this building, our dogs lived at our Head Trainer's house while they were in Formal Training (the last part of their training). This center will allow us to quadruple our production of service dogs from 2 a year to 8. We will begin a fundraising campaign to raise the funds for Putnam Service Dogs to purchase the builidng at cost from our CEO - $700,000. Our CEO expects to close on the purchase of this building by mid-August. With the building permit processes, and renovations, we expect we'll start using the building by the end of September or early October.
