Camp Kangaroo Details:
When: October 5-6, 2024
Schedule: 7:00am - 5:00pm
Location: Cabrillo Beach Youth Waterfront Sports Center, 3000 Shoshonean Road, San Pedro, CA 90731
Purpose: Camp Kangaroo is an annual weekend experience designed to create a safe and nurturing environment where children can express their emotions, receive guidance, and connect with others who have experienced a similar loss. Through various therapeutic activities, such as art & music therapy, group discussions, and outdoor recreation (e.g., kayaking, swimming, and archery), we aim to help children develop coping strategies and foster resilience during this difficult time. The camp is provided free of charge, thanks to the generous support of our community sponsors. Parents/guardians of our campers are only responsible for transportation and lodging.

Join us in spending a fun-filled weekend at an unparalleled aquatic and camping experience helping deserving children deal with grief. We need volunteers to be (1) counselors (licensed social workers or music therapists) or (2) roo-buddies.
- Friday (10/4) | TBD (Setup - 2-3 hours)
- Saturday (10/5) | 7:00am - 5:00pm (Facilitate activities, support children, or help behind the scenes)
- Sunday (10/6) | 7:00am - 5:00pm (Facilitate activities, support children, or help behind the scenes)
Our volunteers (Roo-buddies) support is not limited to the following:
- Registration
- Meal Prep
- Greeting
- Hall Monitor

Lodging: Parents/guardians and volunteers have the option of making it a weekend getaway by staying at a nearby hotel. NOTE: Upon registering/signing up, more info regarding hotel/lodging options at affordable prices will be provided.
Nearby Attractions:- Cabrillo Marine Aquarium is within walking distance, it opens up at 12noon and they only ask for a $3 donation per person.
