Friendly Weekly Calls- Hospice Volunteer (Virtual/Spanish-speaking)

AccentCare Hospice & Palliative Care is looking for a volunteer who can make weekly courtesy calls to our patients, either on Wednesdays or Thursdays between the hours of 10:00 am - 7:00 pm. Circle of Care calls are made to our patients, who reside in their homes or private residences, and are instrumental in helping our hospice team provide excellent care to our patients. These friendly check-in calls are made weekly inquiring through a script of questions related to identifying their needs, e.g., medications, supplies, and support. These calls help us to anticipate and resolve patient and caregiver requests before the upcoming weekend while assuring that the patient receives immediate attention if he or she is in pain or has other urgent needs. A friendly voice and listening ear can make a tremendous difference in the lives of those who are providing 24-hour care to a loved one receiving hospice care. On a typical week, these calls can take between 1- 2 hours to complete. NOTE: This volunteer role requires you to be bilingual/Spanish-speaking and have computer and phone access to make and document calls.

AccentCare Hospice Friendly Visitors are an integral part of the hospice team. They have the opportunity to make a profound difference in the quality of life for individuals who are facing a terminal illness. Friendly Visitors or Direct Patient Care Volunteers enrich the lives of patients by providing emotional support and companionship for the patient and their families within their home residence. Volunteers can help in various ways through compassionate listening, reading, listening to music, making crafts, helping patients make a legacy project, watching movies, and more. Volunteers also help bring comfort to the family by being an understanding presence. Friendly Visitors or Direct Patient Care Volunteers who have direct patient contact will need to complete AccentCare volunteer training, have valid identification, successfully pass a background check, COVID vaccination, and complete a TB Test/health assessment. Background checks and TB Tests/health assessments are paid for by Accentcare. Volunteers need to be 18 years or older.
