Azura Literacy's virtual reading tutor program pairs volunteers with underserved elementary kids to help improve their reading skills and instill a love of reading. Volunteers read with students one-on-one on Zoom, sharing digital children's books and materials to help kids read independently and listen to read-alouds.

This program is virtual, so volunteers can serve from anywhere!

Volunteer requirements:

  • at least 18 years old
  • have basic computer skills (use of internet, Zoom, and web browsers)
  • have a laptop or desktop computer and solid internet connection

  • interview with the program director
  • attend a multi-day virtual training session
  • available to commit to at least one hour per week (split into two 30-minute sessions)
  • available to commit to at least one semester (12-15 weeks in Fall, Spring, or Summer)
