Watch while your local election workers work to count every vote accurately. If you care about fair elections - no matter who wins! - volunteer to observe the vote count near you. #MLK
On election day, you and your candidates are almost home. Just as you keep your eyes on the road when driving, keep your eyes on the election when the votes are being counted!
When you’re driving, it’s not good enough to pay attention most of the time. Even when you’re close to home, you still have to stay focused to avert disaster, right? In fact, over half of car accidents happen within five miles of home.
So it is with elections!
Become an election observer to help protect the vote count!Our training is online. Your election office may have webcams to let you observe online. Also you may want to go in person to the election office to watch how they process the election. Our training tells you how to find out if you need to sign up in advance.

Description
Scrutineers works at the intersection of the voting rights movement and the election transparency movement. We work to make sure everyone qualified to vote can vote, and that all the votes are counted accurately.
We’re the only national organization that trains activists to monitor elections to help ensure fair and accurate counting of votes. Our trainings happen online and can be accessed from anywhere.
Whatever your cause, it’s a lost cause without trustworthy elections.
You’re in the right place if any of these describes you:
- Regardless of what candidates you support, you believe in fair elections (We’re nonpartisan)
- You’re concerned about the attacks on the freedom to vote
- You’re just beginning to learn about elections and want to get involved in making them better
- You’re an expert in some aspect of elections and want to share your knowledge
- You’re considering being a poll worker
- You want to help protect the elections but are worried about COVID and other risks of doing in-person work
- You’re already volunteering to work for a candidate, phonebanking/postcarding, etc.
- You care about the election but don’t have voting rights (due to age, immigration status, or prior convictions)
- You understand that action is needed because the election is not going to protect itself, but you don’t know what to do

REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 15
- Orientation or Training
- 1 hour training and from 2 to 40 hours observing elections near you, any amount you have time for, from the time polls close on until your county's results are final
- You can go to the election office, or watch online if they have webcams. Make notes. Tell your friends how the election counting goes. If you see something interesting (good or bad) we train you what to do (reporting online, to local groups, etc.)
