Tutor For One-On-One Basic Computer and Digital Literacy

ORGANIZATION: Lake Park Public Library

This is a six-month volunteer position with a minimum of a one-hour block of time weekly. The
volunteer(s) will provide one-on-one tutoring for individuals who wish to learn how to navigate the
internet and utilize basic technology, such as a computer or device. Videos and instructional materials will
be provided for tutoring.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Ability, and Experience:

  • Volunteers must be familiar with the basics of using a computer, tablet, and/or smartphone, as well as how to conduct basic internet searches and use email.
  • Volunteers must possess at least an intermediate knowledge of the basics of MS Office.
  • Volunteers must exhibit empathy and patience to effectively assist some learners who may not possess the most basic skills (i.e., using a mouse, accessing the internet, sending an email, etc.).

Mission Statement

The Mission of the Lake Park Public Library is to promote knowledge and preservation of information; make available materials which aid in the pursuit of education, information, research and recreation; and provide the community with skilled guidance in navigating all information to fulfill knowledge needs.


We are a small municipal library dedicated to serving our community. At present we have six full time employees, two of whom are professional librarians.
