This is a three-month volunteer position of one to two hours per week (or more if desired). The individual(s) will ensure all library materials are properly shelved in order to make locating items easy for patrons. Tasks will include, but are not limited to: Return books and other library materials to the proper shelves/locations in the library Check shelves to verify items have not been incorrectly placed by patrons Courteously and accurately assist patrons with locating books and other materials Identify damaged books and other items that need to be repaired or removed from circulation Assist the cataloger in placing book covers and labels on items Required Knowledge, Skills, Ability and Experience: Ability to follow oral and written instructions Ability to use a computer keyboard and mouse Ability to complete shelving assignments with accuracy Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with the public and with associates

This is a three-month volunteer position beginning September 1, 2023. The individual(s) will help non-native speakers of English learn conversational English that will enable them to be comfortable speaking with and understanding native English speakers. Activities will include, but are not limited to: Adhere to an outline provided by the library to facilitate Provide participants with constructive feedback to group participants Model natural functional language Set up room in library used as group meeting room Spend 1.5 to 2 hours per week in group with attendees Communicate with other volunteers and volunteer coordinators outside of the group and attend training sessions Required Knowledge, Skills, Ability and Experience: Prior experience leading English Exchange groups or classes for TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) preferred Fluency in English Ability to speak well and articulate in English Interest in working with adult learners of English Cross-cultural sensitivity and a desire to work with students from different cultural, educational and economic backgrounds Willingness and ability to attend training sessions Flexibility and patience

This is a six-month volunteer position of a minimum of a one-hour block of time twice weekly. The volunteer(s) will provide one-on-one tutoring for individuals who wish to learn how to navigate the internet and utilize basic technology, such as a computer or device. Videos and instructional materials will be provided for tutoring. Required Knowledge, Skills, Ability and Experience: Volunteers are required to attend an orientation session at the Lake Park Public Library and be familiar with the basics of using a computer, tablet, and/or smartphone, as well as how to conduct basic internet searches and use email. Volunteers must possess at least an intermediate knowledge of the basics of MS Office. Volunteers must exhibit empathy and patience in order to effectively assist some learners who do not possess even the most basic skills (ie, using a mouse, accessing the internet, sending an email, etc).

The individual(s) will provide one-on-one tutoring for someone who wishes to learn how to read and/or speak English or improve upon what they already know. Required Knowledge, Skills, Ability, and Experience: Volunteers are required to attend an orientation session at the Lake Park Public Library and either have completed or agree to complete ProLiteracy's ESL Tutor Training Online Workshop. Information regarding how to complete the workshop will be provided during orientation. Volunteers must exhibit empathy and patience. Volunteers need to be able to use a computer in order to perform the functions of this role.
