Are you looking to serve older adults in your community? Would you like to discuss the literature you're reading?
Once a month, our fantastic volunteer, Kim, and a group of members gather to talk about books they're reading, articles they've read, a podcast they've heard, etc. We are looking for a volunteer to join Kim once a month to help facilitate conversation at this event. Around 10 people typically attend this event.
The schedule:
The fourth Wednesday of every month at 4 PM
Upcoming Dates: August 23rd, September 27th
The hard truth is that people's communities dwindle as they age. This monthly reading circle creates a relaxed environment for people to meet each other and build connections. Loneliness has just been proven to be as deadly as smoking a pack a day (source: https://www.hhs.gov/surgeongeneral/priorities/connection/index.html?utm_source=osg_redirect&utm_medium=osg_redirect&utm_campaign=osg_sg_gov_connection), so we're doing everything we can to help people keep their community strong.
If you're interested in joining this delightful group, email liz@nextvillagesf.org or call 415-574-0156 to contact Elizabeth, the volunteer coordinator!
