The Family Therapist is responsible for providing professional guidance and support to program participants in navigating the challenges of co-parenting. They will conduct one-on-one therapy sessions with families to address emotional and psychological aspects related to co-parenting. The Family Therapist will also lead group therapy sessions, creating a safe and supportive environment for participants. Their expertise and knowledge will help families in managing the emotional aspects of co-parenting. Collaboration with other program staff members is essential to ensure the well-being and progress of the families. The Family Therapist should possess excellent counseling and communication skills, empathy, and the ability to provide effective therapy.

  • Offer professional guidance and support to program participants in navigating the complexities of co-parenting relationships.
  • Conduct individual or group therapy sessions to address participants' emotional and psychological needs related to co-parenting.
  • Help participants understand the impact of their actions on their child/children and develop strategies for creating a supportive co-parenting environment.
  • Provide tools and techniques for managing emotions, resolving conflicts, and fostering healthy relationships.
  • Collaborate with the program team to develop resources and educational materials related to family therapy and co-parenting.

Skills Required:

  • Professional qualification as a family therapist or relevant experience in family counseling.
  • Strong understanding of co-parenting dynamics and the challenges faced by parents in maintaining effective co-parenting relationships.
  • Ability to provide guidance and support to participants with empathy and respect.
  • Knowledge of family therapy techniques and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Our initiatives include The Woman First Society, supporting women; The Abundant Harvest Community Garden, addressing food insecurity; Transcendence Pathways, fostering personal growth; and The NewARK Life Initiative, promoting kindness and unity. WE ARE CURRENTLY RECRUITING UNPAID VOLUNTEERS!

  • Weekly program sessions: 2 hours per session (12 weeks). One-on-one therapy sessions: 1 hour per family (at least once in the 12 weeks). Additional time for preparation and collaboration with the program team.
