Grune Heidi Farm (GHF) rescue is in need of volunteers to assist in taking care of horses that have come to the farm as a rescue. Volunteers may be asked to help with feeding, grooming, and maintaining proper hygiene including applying sprays to deter flies, utilizing hoof ointment, clipping, etc. The environment for these horses is also just as important. Barn maintenance includes clearing of harmful debris or trash, landscaping, and minor repairs to fences, gates, and the barn itself.

An ideal volunteer must be able to lift at least 25 lbs, endure hot and cold environments, and must be able to offer patience to the horses coming from neglect and abuse into love and care. Volunteers are needed in the evenings from 5pm-7pm and the required attire is appropriate outdoor clothing, farm shoes or boots, and durable work gloves. It is recommended to bring drinks and snacks if necessary.

Grune Heidi Farm Rescue primarily works with American Saddlebreds and Arabian horses. It is their mission to educate the public to increase awareness of the dangers these specific breeds face. This farm rescue focuses on the prevention of abuse, neglect, and the protection of these horses. GHF is a member of the United Horse Coalition, The Homes for Horses Coalition, and is part of the AmazonSmile Foundation. They were also awarded the GuideStar Gold Seal of Transparency in 2019.
