TO REGISTER FOR THIS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY, YOU MUST CONTACT THE VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR! Please read this event description fully.
On Saturday, July 27, 2024, The Salvation Army will partner with the JCPenney at Spectrum Mall to host the Back-to-School Child Spree, our annual shopping program designed for disadvantaged children in Tucson. This year’s event will host 150 less-fortunate youth, ranging in age from Kindergarten to 12th grade. Each child will receive a $150 JCPenney gift card for new clothing and shoes, as well as a new, sturdy backpack filled with essential school supplies!
We're currently seeking volunteers and volunteer groups who are willing to donate their time to accompany students as they shop and help them make wise buying decisions. For only a few hours of your time, you can build a positive experience for a child that will last a lifetime!

*IMPORTANT! All volunteers and volunteer groups MUST complete and return the provided registration materials, in order to secure their volunteer spot(s). A confirmation email will be sent to all volunteers who have submitted the required paperwork letting them know that they have been officially registered by the Volunteer Coordinator. Volunteers and volunteer groups who DO NOT return the required paperwork prior to the registration deadline WILL NOT be able to participate. Registration deadline is Monday, July 15, 2024.

Description
The Salvation Army provides services to the Tucson community by way of temporary shelter, transitional housing, case management, job training, and GED Training. We hand out food boxes, water and clothing to those in need.
We also have youth programs such as day and summer camps and after school programs similar to Boy and Girl Scouts.
During the holidays, we provide meals for community members on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. We also host the Christmas Angel Giving Tree and Adopt-a-Family program for those in need at Christmas.
