Volunteer Drivers
As a Volunteer Food Rescue runner, you will serve as a driver or navigator. This volunteer opportunity requires all drivers to have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a good driving record. In addition, each runner candidate will be required to attend a driver orientation, review Food Rescue’s policy document and acknowledge they have read the provided driver handbook, and read and signed the Driver Safety Agreement. You will begin as a Navigator, and the Driver will explain the job as you do a run with them.
As a WPE Food Rescue driver, you will be representing our organization as you travel throughout the county and interacting with our donors, recipients, and clients - everyone you come into contact with either directly or indirectly. It is critical that you look your best because as people see you, they see WPE. Standard WPE attire for driving runs includes wearing clean clothes and a clean WPE "apron-bib" and hat, worn and tied appropriately. This attire allows recipients to clearly identify you as a WPE representative and also conveys you are thoughtful about appearance.

Description
At White Pony Express, we rescue fresh surplus food from supermarkets, restaurants, and farmers’ markets and deliver it free of charge to organizations that feed the hungry. We also collect and distribute high-quality clothing, children's toys, and books.
We were founded by Dr. Carol Weyland Conner in 2013. Dr. Conner conceived this model as an excellent way to help eliminate hunger and poverty by delivering the abundance all around us to our neighbors in need. From our first day, Dr. Conner has stressed that more important than the food and clothing we deliver is the love we give. Love is at the heart of a family, and we are one family.
Beyond our goal of helping others, WPE aims to create opportunities for selfless service. Hundreds of volunteers make White Pony Express possible. They volunteer with us because they believe in our mission. They know they are helping others who have urgent needs at this time in their lives.
