Bunny Toys
Look at all these fun toys to play with!

We are currently in need of someone to head up our fabulous Bunny Toy Making team! Our handmade bunny toys are a huge hit with local rabbit parents, and also play a key role in our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and find new homes for abandoned house rabbits. Toys provide important enrichment for our sheltered bunnies, and provide a healthy and fun toy option that helps to raise money in support of our efforts.

Duties Include:

  • Purchase material with which to make toys
  • Coordinate toy-making efforts, including providing volunteer toymakers with instructions, training and supplies
  • Work with toymakers to determine which toys they'd prefer to make
  • Create new toys
  • Coordinate special toy-making parties and toy sales at the shelter; will work in conjunction with the BInky Boutique Supervisor

Requirements:
  • 6-month minimum commitment
  • Schedule is flexible, expect to devote several hours per week, more during toy event weeks, which happen around once per quarter
  • Attend orientation and training
  • NO bunny toymaking experience required - we'll teach you everything you need to know!
  • Management experience a plus, but not required - however, MUST be comfortable with taking full responsibility for toymaking coordination and team management; this includes email communications with Toy Making Team and other key members of the volunteer team, and supporting team members as needed
  • Creativity a BIG plus! Inventing new toys takes some imagination, but can be a lot of fun!
  • Must love bunnies. : )

Mission Statement

Rocky Mountain House Rabbit Rescue is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), rescue and educational organization. We rescue, rehabilitate, and find loving forever homes for abandoned house rabbits. We also support local rabbit parents by providing education on these often misunderstood animals and their proper care, and offering expert support for any physical or behavioral challenges that may come up.

Description

Rocky Mountain House Rabbit Rescue (formerly Colorado House Rabbit Society) is licensed by the House-Rabbit Society International Headquarters. We are a 100% volunteer-drive organization, made up of a diverse group of over 200 bunny lovers.

Our shelter is home to around 80 rabbits at any given time, each of which has been rescued from dire circumstances. Once they arrive at our shelter, every bunny is given a thorough medical examination, and provided with whatever expert care is required to help them recover from physical and emotional wounds. Once they are neutered or spayed, restored to health, and litterbox trained, we begin the search for the perfect loving forever home for each bunny (due to their strong need for social connection, bunnies are only adopted out as pairs, or as singles to be paired with a bunny already in the home).

We believe that every-bunny deserves a second chance, and are therefore a no-kill shelter. Each bunny receives compassionate and loving care for as long as it takes for their new human to find them. Our concern for the bunnies also extends beyond the adoption - we provide education on proper rabbit care for all adopters, 24/7 expert advice on bunny health and behavior for rabbit parents, and educational programs for local community groups.

We are a diverse community with one thing in common - we are all committed to helping rabbits and the people who love them. We welcome anyone who is interested in joining our community in this important work!
