Volunteers support the National Park Service in its mission to preserve and protect our national parks. At the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site (HOFR), the 32nd and longest-serving president of the United States returned to Hyde Park often, drawing on this place to renew his spirit during times of personal and political crisis. Meanwhile, Eleanor Roosevelt entertained friends, state visitors, the press, and their associates in the tranquil and relaxed atmosphere of Val-Kill - all at the Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site (ELRO). Additionally, the Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site (VAMA) is a home built expressly for the aristocratic lifestyle - built by of one of the first families of wealth in America and designed by one of the nation's preeminent architects. Join us in preserving the historic legacy of the Roosevelt-Vanderbilt National Historic Sites by volunteering to help us carry out our mission of preservation and education.

The first point of contact for many guests at each park are their respective visitor’s centers. At the HOFR is the Henry A. Wallace Visitor Center, named in honor of the man who served as Vice-President during FDR’s third term. At the ELRO is the Stone Cottage, the first structure built at Val-Kill converted into a living space and then for public use, featuring exhibits on the history of Val-Kill and the former First Lady. Meanwhile, the VAMA has the Pavilion, once a guest house and gentleman’s lounge for the Vanderbilts. Each of these centers is uniquely flavored for their Historic Site’s experience, and each provides important information to guests on general amenities and even the surrounding area. So, the National Parks Service seeks a volunteer Visitor Center Attendant, to head the beginning of those historic experiences.
