Norfolk County RSVP is seeking volunteers age 55 and older for the following position:

Assist the Primary Care department at Jamaica Plain VA Hospital in serving two critical support roles:
  • Serve as a Customer Service Ambassador. Provide much needed wayfinding support to Veterans and other foot traffic near the 2nd floor Primary Care waiting room and lobby/lounge area Typical requests are for help in getting to the Lab, Radiology, Dental, COVID Vaccines and Medical Specialty Clinic.
  • Assist Veterans in enrolling in "MyHealtheVet", an online, customer-friendly tool that enables vets to schedule appointments, order medications, send notes to their doctors, etc. Computer kiosks are located nearby for Veteran enrollment and use. The volunteer will be able to attend to the Veterans at the kiosks in case they have any questions.
Time Commitment:
The Jamaica VA hospital can use help with Wayfinding and "MyHealtheVet" support anytime on Mondays through Fridays between 7:30am and 4:00pm

Requirements:

Basic computer skills, good customer service skills

Volunteer opportunities include mentoring pre-release inmates, tutoring elementary school children, drivers for Veterans, meals on wheels and food pantires, friendly visiting, non-profit support services and many more! N.C. RSVP will find the volunteer opportunity that best fits your interests & schedule and impacts the needs that are most critical to our county's communities. N.C. RSVP provides mileage reimbursement, accident & liability insurance, an invitation to our annual recognition event, monthly newsletters, orientation & training.
