An intern will assist in ancillary and office activities that support direct patient care activities. The intern will have the opportunity to develop special projects, which will meet the intern’s interest and the needs of the company. The intern will also have weekly contact with patients and will attend and Interdisciplinary Group Meeting every 2 weeks with the hospice team to review cases.
Each student will go through an orientation and receive supervision. The student intern will complete a project by the end of the internship. The student will work with colleagues and supervisor to create a goal and a project of significance to the student and that they feel will benefit the company. The project will be decided and agreed upon within the first 2-3 weeks of internship. At the end of the internship, the student(s) will present the project they have completed.
The student will also help organize, create, and plan a memorial service.
The intern will be required to do patient contact visits in nearby nursing facilities, which may include companion visitation, sitting vigil with patients, and/or providing support for patients and their families. The intern may experience many issues including, but not limited to, issues surrounding coping, grief and loss, education with disease and the dying process, and working with families after their loss to provide bereavement support.
Students will receive in-person supervision weekly.

Mission Statement
We are looking for those who would like to make a difference during a person and their family's experience during the end of their life. Any time that you may have could make a difference with our patients. We are a small family-run hospice company that operates throughout the state of Massachusetts. We are mainly in nursing facilities, which are divided into our areas (North, West, Central, South). The amount of patients in each facility varies and depending on your interest in volunteering (in-person or virtual) we can coordinate the best location for you. At this time we would like to ask for a minimum of 1 hour a week from our volunteers. This can be over the phone or in person visiting patients/families. If you are interested and would like to discuss the volunteer opportunities that we have here, please send an email with contact information and our volunteer coordinator will follow up with you.
