At Privilege Nonprofit, we are dedicated to helping those impacted by the homelessness crisis in Northern California. As part of the work we do, we provide information on resources and opportunities for those currently are or at risk of becoming unhoused.

Currently, we are seeking volunteers to aid in expanding and maintaining our current collection of resources. This includes conducting independent research, presenting resources to a shareable format, and maintaining our resource binder.

If you are in high school, please let us know your projected graduation year and school. Otherwise, please include a resume.

Mission Statement

Privilege Non-Profit seeks to contribute to strong communities and individual happiness by providing services to people who are currently unhoused or at risk, and to help set them up for long-term success. We provide support and advocacy for people in crisis in Alameda, San Mateo, Contra Costa, and Tri-Valley counties. We define success as helping clients to become and stay housed and to be empowered as possible their own life, and measure success through client surveys and feedback from other organizations. We work to support people by providing essentials such as food and clothing, assistance getting housed, support in connecting to additional resources, career support, and education in life skills. Since confidence and self-esteem are essential to life success, our goal is to provide a sense of privilege to people who might feel otherwise marginalized. We connect to clients through outreach in homeless encampments, flyers, and word of mouth.

Description

* Providing food, clothing, living essentials, and pandemic care (masks, etc.) * Finding housing, locating funding, assisting with applications, and sourcing home goods * Helping people connect to additional resources to cover food, essentials, and healthcare * Connecting people to mental health resources and community and youth support groups * Helping veterans connect to benefits, post-military adjustment resources, and PTSD resources * Helping seniors connecting to senior-specific medical care and resources * Helping the newly housed connect to resources in their new community * Career support, such as assistance with resume, wardrobe, job search, applications * In addition, we plan to offer workshops in life skills and financial literacy
