The Child Assist volunteer position helps create a comforting and welcoming environment to children visiting CARE House for the first time. They greet the child(ren) at our front door, and let them know them know they will be caring for them during their visit while guiding them to our age appropriate waiting rooms filled with snacks and activities. The children the Child Assist cares for are at CARE House to be forensically interviewed by our professional forensic interviewers for allegations of abuse and neglect. All children are accompanied by a non-offending adult (such as a parent or other relative) that will also stay with the child and the child assist. A two hour training session is required as well as three trainings with an experienced Child Assist. Forensic interviews are scheduled during office hours Monday - Friday. The Child Assist position is flexible within those hours. Must be at least eighteen years of age for this position.
