Companionship Call Program

We are looking for volunteers to help us combat senior isolation and loneliness by participating in our senior calling program.

As part of this program, you will be matched with one San Diego senior who has expressed that they are lonely. Simply call them weekly or biweekly at a mutually agreed upon time to chat for 15 to 30 minutes. A simple call from you can make a big difference in their day and will help combat social isolation! Your phone number will be screened for your privacy.

To get started, please follow these steps:

1. Complete an application by following this link: https://mon-ami.typeform.com/to/pFAIrTNE
2. Complete a LiveScan background check at a LiveScan office and pay a $10 fee to help us offset the cost of your background check. Follow this link and complete steps 1‐3 to complete your LiveScan: https://meals-on-wheels.org/volunteer/livescan/
3. Review the required training document by following this link: https://meals-on-wheels.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Companionship-Call-Training-Rev.-2022.pdf
4. Electronically sign our Volunteer Consent form that will be emailed to you in the coming days from DocuSign after you submit your application.
5. We’ll be in touch as soon as your volunteer application has been approved. Please note this may take two to three weeks as we wait for your background check results.
