Visitor Center volunteers are some of the first park representatives that visitors meet. Volunteers will be working the front desk in the visitor center of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal NHP in Cumberland, MD. Volunteers will provide park orientation to visitors, answer questions, hand out brochures, work with Jr Rangers, and much more! Volunteers will also be trained in opening and closing procedures, and basic natural and cultural history of park. This opportunity involves working with people from diverse backgrounds and at times working with a high volume of visitors. Shifts will be 5 hours, and we are looking for a commitment of at least 2 shifts per month. We are looking for locals, as housing is not provided with this position. Volunteers must be dependable and professional when representing the National Park Service.
