The Excelsior Community Food Pantry is finally re-opening after 3+ years of closure due to covid. We are thrilled to be able to reconnect with our volunteers and participants in the Excelsior neighborhood. Our pantry will operate in a manner similar to how it did pre-covid:

9-10 AM: Food delivery from the SF-Marin Food Bank and set up (tables, supplies, etc.).
10-11 AM: Finish setting up, introductions, general orientation, and volunteer role assignments. (Most general volunteers will arrive around 10 AM.)
11-12 PM: Food distribution to participants.
12-12:30 PM: Clean up.

Description

The Excelsior Community Food Pantry is a partnership of the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living (AKA Jewish Home San Francisco) and Mission Bay Community Church, in collaboration with the San Francisco - Marin Food Bank and the Excelsior community.


We distribute free groceries to Excelsior neighborhood families every Saturday, rain or shine. The timeframe for set-up, food distribution, and clean-up is 10 AM - 1 PM. Please join us any Saturday in the parking lot at Jewish Home San Francisco. Advance sign-ups are not required unless you are bringing a group of 7 or more people. If you drive, please park on the street as there is not enough parking in the Jewish Home lots to accommodate our volunteers. REQUIREMENTS

  • We ask volunteers to arrive by 10:15 AM, stay through the food distribution period (11-12 PM), and to help with clean up. We are usually finished before 12:30 PM. Alternatively, we do need a few volunteers to help with set up 9-10 AM.
  • We are always in need of Cantonese/English bilingual speakers to help with translation.
