This stipend eligible position is for the 2023-2024 school year. Includes a $3000 stipend ($1500 each term); half paid at mid-point of & remainder paid end of term. The Regional Quality Council intern works to implement a contract with the Department of Human Services that supports diverse, cross-functional councils that respond to emergent issues impacting the disability community, engage in systems transformation efforts, and align with disability justice movement identified by leaders who have disabilities. The RQC Intern will:

  • Support efforts and initiatives that drive overall systems and social change to promote inclusion of people who have disabilities in the state of Minnesota;
  • Improve person-centered outcomes in disability services;
  • Identify or enhance quality of life indicators for people who have disabilities.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist with implementing a quality monitoring system; includes informational interviews, community conversations, listening sessions and focus groups to measure and report on services for people with disabilities within their region
  • Properly document quality monitoring system feedback; complete follow-up process
  • Respond to daily operational needs of RQC Manager and Regional Coordinators
  • Attend and support RQC meetings once a month
  • Analyze information and coordinate regional response to access barriers and service gaps
  • Support RQC’s identifying, planning & implementing 1 or more quality improvement projects
  • Research, compile, and share existing resources and best practices
  • Assist with setting priorities to improve home-and-community based long-term services and supports for people with disabilities based on regional strengths and needs
  • Assist with reporting regional findings to DHS; recommendations for system improvements
  • Attend abuse reporting trainings; follow MN mandated abuse reporting policies
  • Data entry and data management and other duties as requested

Qualifications:
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective organization skills; attention to detail/accuracy a must
  • Will work with and have respect for people of all backgrounds; in teams and independently
  • Dependable and can keep information confidential
  • Effective time management and problem solving skills; proficient computer skills
  • Manages multiple priorities and follows a project through to completion
  • Commitment to social, racial, disability and LGBTQ+ justice and their intersections
  • Multiple language capabilities preferred but not required
  • Preference for individuals with a disability and/or lived experience around race and disability justice


Time Commitment:
  • 10-12 hours per week September 2023 - May 2024. Internship done remotely and/or in-person. Hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm with evenings and weekends as schedule allows/if needed
