Seeking volunteer positions through Hunger Free America (HFA), AmeriCorps Seniors Program in partnership with Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. By donating a few hours of your time, you will help to provide food for the 1.4 million people in Los Angeles who face food insecurity.

We are looking for seniors (55 and older) to volunteer at 2 LA Regional Food Bank locations. The area served by the LA Regional Food Bank includes all of Los Angeles County. The 2 locations are:
-1701 E. 41st Place, Los Angeles, CA 90058
-2300 Pellissier Place, Industry, 90601

Volunteer positions include leading orientations, organizing volunteers and stations, boxing, sorting, and packaging food that is later distributed through the LA Food Bank network of more than 600 agency partners to neighbors in need. The preferred primary language is English, additional languages helpful but not required; Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, Farsi, Armenian, Vietnamese, and Tagalog

Enrollment as a Hunger Free America-AmeriCorps Seniors volunteer will enable you to engage in anti-hunger capacity-building with perks such as travel/meal reimbursement, joining a network of federal volunteers, and more! We hope that you will join LA Food Banks' high-energy facilities as we work together to end hunger.

Mission Statement

HUNGER FREE AMERICA is a national nonprofit group building a nonpartisan, grassroots membership movement to enact the policies and programs needed to end domestic hunger and ensure that all Americans have sufficient access to nutritious food.

Description

HUNGER FREE AMERICA (formerly known as the New York City Coalition Against Hunger) is a national nonprofit group building a nonpartisan, grass-roots membership movement to enact the policies and programs needed to end domestic hunger and ensure that all Americans have sufficient access to nutritious food.

Our long-term goal is not just to ameliorate the problem, but also to build the people’s movement necessary to enact the economic and public policies needed to end hunger entirely. Given that hunger drains our economy and tears at our moral and civic fabric, we know that eliminating it will boost the nation both economically and spiritually. Towards that end, we’ve adopted the motto: "Ending hunger lifts us all."
