Volunteers needed! Hunger Free America (HFA) is looking for people aged 55+ to share their time, passion, and talents by joining us to fulfill our mission of ending domestic hunger. Through this flexible program, sponsored by AmeriCorps Seniors, volunteers can apply their skills (in-person or virtually) to support anti-hunger charities. A remote position is available with Hunger Free America’s Hunger Hotline for Food Benefits Outreach. The average hours are 10 hours per week. Spanish is preferred but not necessary. Preferred skills are detail-oriented, knowledge of nutrition/social service programs, and good computer skills. Must have a computer and reliable internet service. Tasks will include taking calls, making referrals, completing logs, and validating resources. For volunteers interested in learning more, please complete the Volunteer Interest Form. Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation: Volunteers needed! Hunger Free America (HFA) is looking for people aged 55+ to share their time, passion, and talents by joining us to fulfill our mission of ending domestic hunger. Through this flexible program, sponsored by AmeriCorps Seniors, volunteers can apply their skills (in-person or virtually) to support anti-hunger charities. Volunteer positions are available through our partnership with Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation. Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation is in Flushing, NY 11354. Their mission includes supporting those in need in the areas of Charity, Medical, Disaster Relief and Education. They serve Queens, Manhattan, and parts of Brooklyn. There are 3 positions available : 1. Pantry Support - In person, an average of 20 hours per week, the languages required are English and Chinese. Additional skills are communication skills, management, and Microsoft computer skills. This volunteer will assist the Project Manager with the Food Pantry and Hot meal delivery service. Tasks include supporting with ordering, recipient arrangements, distribution set up, and volunteers. 2. Administrative/Workshop Development - in person, 20-30 hours per week, the languages required are English and Chinese. Additional skills are Computer Microsoft Suite, document management, self-discipline, and excellent communication skills. Tasks include assisting the office with administrative tasks and communicating with the foundational team. 3. Grant Writing/Research - Remote or in person, 20-30 hours per week, English required, Chinese helpful but not required. Additional skills are Grant applying experience, familiarity with private and public funding foundations, and Computer Microsoft Suite skills. Tasks include research and Grant Writing to support strategic organizational goals. There are 2 positions available. 1. Grant research/Writing - Research/Writing Grants and reach out to corporate sponsors. The recommended skills are having experience with grants, excellent writing, and computer skills. Tasks include research and writing grants as well as researching corporate sponsors. Opportunity is remote, averaging 15 hours per week for 6 months. Accounting & Fiscal Management - Assist CEO & Operational Manager with tasks needed for an upcoming audit. Remote, averaging 10 hours per week. Recommended skills are effective communication skills, skillful writing and computer skills, and knowledge of Excel and QuickBooks. Volunteers needed! Hunger Free America (HFA) is looking for people aged 55+ to share their time, passion, and talents by joining us to fulfill our mission of ending domestic hunger. Through this flexible program, sponsored by AmeriCorps Seniors, volunteers can apply their skills (in-person or virtually) to support anti-hunger charities. A volunteer position is available in partnership with Catholic Multicultural Center. They are in Madison, WI. Their mission is to meet the needs of their community, one person at a time, focusing on the whole person's needs. The opportunity available is for in-person Pantry Support and the Meal program. Time is flexible, however, 2 hours minimum per week and 2 hours minimum monthly for the meal program. Recommended skills are being active and, on your feet, friendly and helpful in interacting with guests. Pantry support is on weekdays. The meal program is 7 days a week. Montgomery County Food Council serves as the primary connection point of food system issues for the county. The opportunity is for Food Benefits Outreach. The position is remote/in-person, is ongoing and flexible. English and Spanish are required languages. Volunteers will assist the SNAP outreach team both in person and remotely with prescreening, eligibility and applications.
