The Research Program at the Lighthouse Guild Research Institute has openings for enthusiastic volunteers/students/interns. The chosen person(s) will assist with research projects designed to improve the quality of life for people with vision impairment. The current project is examining different adaptive technology equipment and software to objectively evaluate its usefulness for people with vision loss. This is an excellent opportunity to obtain research training and experience. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Become familiar with assistive technology
- Assist with recruitment of participants
- Train patients to use assistive technology
- Collect and organize data
- Assists with other research projects throughout the organization
Qualifications:
- The candidate is expected to have enthusiasm for research
- Proactive, self-starter
- Ability to interact with people and be empathetic
- Interested in vision loss and its consequence to patients’ quality-of-life
Details of the Opportunity: This is an opportunity to work with people who have vision loss and learn about its consequences, learn about assistive technologies, and develop skills in research methods. This opportunity will begin immediately and will require a minimum of 8 hours per week, from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Masks are required in the Lighthouse building.
