Love Kids? Love Basketball? Then we need you!
We are looking for someone to capture various segments of the 2023 Ruey Classic, which is scheduled for Saturday, June 24th from 1pm to 4pm, in photos.
The Ruey Classic is an annual memorial basketball game which honors the life and memory of SoulPhamm’s Co-Founder, Coach Luis Herrera who passed away suddenly in 2021. For more information on SoulPhamm, please visit our website at www.soulphamm.org.
The event will be held in Newark, New Jersey (not far from NJPAC) and includes a basketball game and a "talent segment" which features our performing art groups (dance/step/cheer). Photographers will be assigned to certain parts of the event (basketball game, team performances, etc.) and would be asked to catch as much of the event as possible, which we would then post across our social media channels.
In addition to adding the finished product to your own portfolio, we would be proud to serve as a professional reference for you. Ideally, the finished product would be turned around within two months - before we begin our next season at the end of August.

Our vision is to promote virtue, equity, unity, justice, faith, charity and a sense of common purpose and brotherhood among all people with an emphasis on the development and advancement of young people through education, athletics, service and the arts.
SoulPhamm was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the state of New Jersey on June 25, 2021 and is the "birth-child" of Coach Luis ("Lou") and Dr. Leisa Herrera ("Mz. Doc"). The organization exists to provide training to young people in a variety of sports and performing arts and unique opportunities to display those talents through competition and performance. By integrating mentoring, life skills, opportunities for community service and academic enrichment to the athletic/artistic program, we help make our scholar-athletes as well-rounded as possible, capable of meeting and overcoming any challenges they are faced with. Although Coach Lou passed away suddenly in January 2021, the official launch of SoulPhamm was held on June 26, 2021, which coincided with his birthday weekend. SoulPhamm will recognize its own founding, as well as the achievements of our young people every year on the fourth Saturday of June, as a tribute to the life and legacy of Coach Lou.
