SoulPhamm is recruiting for a current New Jersey resident to join our Coaching Team in support of ONYX, our new Drum Major Team which will serve between five and seven junior and senior high school students. We will not recruit for this team until the Coach has been identified and onboarded. This ensemble is slated to be part of our 2025-2026 season with auditions beginning in June. The coach can elect to do virtual practices over the summer. Starting in September, the team's rehearsals will be on Saturdays, usually from 12:30pm to 3:30pm. As of this date, the team will reside in either Union County (specifically RAHWAY), Middlesex County (South Plainfield or Edison) or Somerset County (Somerset, Bound Brook, Bridgewater). Once every two months or so, the team will spend one Saturday at our Newark location. ONYX will support both our Drumline (also developing this summer) and our hip-hop majorette dance team. The ideal Coach will bring expertise in creating innovative hip-hop choreography and demonstrate the ability to effectively teach students across all skill levels. They must be capable of mastering and instructing HBCU-style drum major choreography, while helping participants refine their choreography execution and cultivate compelling stage presence. As the newest part of our premier performance ensemble, the team frequently participates in events, requiring the Coach to serve as a chaperone, primarily on Saturdays. As of this writing, our 2025-2026 performance schedule includes a parade in December, a collegiate AND NBA G-League game and several community events. A highly creative high school junior or senior with strong hip-hop dance experience or skill is welcome to apply for community service hours. No phone calls please.

Virtual Opportunity
SoulPhamm is looking for a committed Virtual Step Team Coach to work with its 2025-2026 team over its summer hiatus. You must be experienced enough to choreograph original routines and teach them to beginning and experienced steppers. RETRO is SoulPhamm's Competitive Step Team and it will include ladies in grades 6 to 8. We will be holding tryout for this team on June 21st. The step team coach will support an "in-person coach" and will be responsible for keeping the girls sharp in terms of drills and choreography. We have an online group through the BAND app where videos and announcements can be posted. The coach can set an evening virtual time (with a preference for Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays any time from 5pm EST onward) or a Saturday practice (morning preferred) and can select a 60-90 minute practice slot. Practice would then start in July and run through August. If the Coach would like to remain with the team past the summer, they are welcome to return to work with the team through the school year, when in-person practices begin and continue with virtual practices. Interested candidates would be asked to: (a) meet with the Director via Zoom and submit a video of step team choreography they've done; (b) submit an application; (c) select a practice time. High School Seniors who can use the experience for community service hours are welcomed to apply. Please specify your experience with step. We thank you for your interest in helping us build something amazing!

An experienced and patient runway instructor, with a TREMENDOUS sense of humor is needed to work with our Sorority next season (September-June). Training can be done in-person, online, or a mix of both. Our Sorority includes young ladies ages 12-16. Their program includes community service, college and career prep, networking, advocacy and outreach, social media campaigns, and social etiquette (including public speaking). We learned this past season that our young ladies are lacking in self-confidence and presence and given that they represent our organization in several parades - we thought that incorporating modeling would be a great way to help them develop valuable skills, increase their confidence, improve posture and start to develop a personal "brand". Helping them develop their "runway walk" would also be a fun way to prepare them for parades. We can think through a "culminating event" that showcases everything that they've learned from you. The ideal instructor has some experience in modeling and has the patience to deal with pre-teens many of whom are going through an awkward phase. Please share your experience when you reach out.

Virtual Opportunity
SoulPhamm is recruiting for an experienced hip-hop dancer to join our Coaching Team in support of PHENOM, our new Drum Major Team which will serve between five and seven junior and senior high school boys. A male Coach is strongly preferred so that he can mentor and build a bond with these young men. We will not recruit for this team until the Coach has been identified and onboarded. This ensemble is slated to be part of our 2025-2026 season with auditions beginning in June. The coach will support the "In-Person Coach" who will start in September, but he will begin virtual practices in mid-July (evenings after 6pm generally work best for students who have summer jobs or summer camp). If the Coach has interest and availability, he can continue with the group throughout the season (which will end in June 2026). PHENOM will support both our ONYX Drumline (also developing this summer) and our hip-hop majorette dance team. After expression of interest, candidates will (a) meet with our Director via Zoom and submit a video of proposed choreography; (b) complete an application; (c) set the schedule for the team; (d) have virtual planning meetings with the Coaching team and begin coaching in mid-July. A highly creative high school senior with strong hip-hop dance experience or skill is welcome to apply for community service hours. Thank you for your interest in helping us build something amazing!
