We are looking for someone to capture our cheerleading team's entry for a virtual competition that will be held on Saturday, November 23rd from 1pm to 4pm. Purple Reign is the amateur youth cheerleading program of SoulPhamm, a nonprofit sports and arts program honoring the life and memory of its Co-Founder, Coach Luis Herrera who passed away suddenly in 2021. This season's team includes girls ages 12-15. For more information on SoulPhamm, please visit our website at www.soulphamm.org. As of this date, the event will be held in Newark, New Jersey. The videographer would film the cheerleading team's submission for the competition, which they will then upload for judges' review. Our understanding (as of now) is that this is a "one-take competition" (which means that we will have to submit whatever the girls do, even if they mess up). We are waiting for more specifics on timing (length of video, angles, etc.) and other video requirements. The videographer will then also "re-tape" the girls' competition submission which we will use as a promotional video (for this, we invite the videographer to offer creative suggestions). The coaches will offer full support to the videographer (and we will send more specifics on the competition portion well in advance of the day), but we found the need to recruit a volunteer so that the coaches can focus fully on preparing the girls. A portfolio which shows samples of videos you’ve done in the past would be helpful but is not required. Thank you for your interest! No phone calls please.

This opportunity is open to high school students residing in New Jersey (NY Students who can commute to Newark on the 2nd Saturday of the month are also welcomed to apply). Virtual meetings (Zoom) are held on 2nd/4th Thursdays at 7pm EST from October to June. The Kulture Keepers are the marketing team of SoulPhamm and will be responsible for developing marketing campaigns and skits to further SoulPhamm's work and promote its programs. Your work will be featured across social media (IG, FB, TikTok, X and YouTube), so you've got to be outgoing and creative! We will develop campaigns and work on skits during our virtual meetings and will then on the 2nd Saturdays (between 1pm-4pm), we will gather at our location in Downtown Newark to film. Upon expression of interest, an application will be sent which must be completed and returned before orientation. Students may request a separate, virtual meeting with the Director if needed. The program starts on October 10th and ends in June.

Saturdays from 1pm to 4pm (September 14, 2024 to June 21, 2025) A committed coaching team is needed to support the SoulDeevas' (girls ages 12-21) 2024-2025 hip-hop majorette dance team and the Purple Reign stomp/shake cheerleading team (girls ages 12-21). Tryouts for both teams will begin in September and then their season will run from September 2024 to June 2025. You can choose to work with one team, or with both depending on your interests and availability. Given that the hip-hop majorette and stomp & shake genres are fairly new in the northeast, we have the autonomy to influence the style, adding Jersey and NYC flavor to our routines. Coaches with experience in hip-hop, jazz/contemporary choreography would thrive in this role and the ability to learn and teach the HBCU style of majorette dance would be tremendously helpful. Practices would be on Saturdays between the hours of 1pm and 4pm. Virtual sessions (on the coaches' schedule) are also encouraged, but not required. Our current gym location is currently based Newark, New Jersey. Girls on the teams generally have little to no formal training - so we want the coaching team to set a culture of fitness and training early on. Each team is expected to include only ten to fifteen young ladies. The teams are fairly busy, often being invited to perform in high visibility events such as NBA games and parades. Coaching experience is not required but the ability to choreograph competitive hip-hop routines is. We will support you as you grow. There are also opportunities for referral to paid opportunities after six months of service.

Candidates will work alongside two seasoned cheerleading coaches who reside in NY - so a candidate who resides in NJ would be strongly preferred to support should inclement weather delay the NY based coaches. Ability in hip-hop dance would be a tremendous plus! Practices would be on Saturdays between the hours of 1pm and 4pm. Virtual sessions are also encouraged, but not required. Our current gym location is currently based Newark, New Jersey. Virtual Opportunity
SoulPhamm is looking for professionals, who have a passion for youth development, sports, arts, and education (and a deep sense of humor), to become part of its Young Professionals Committee ("YPC") for its new season which runs from September 14, 2024 to June 21, 2025. CURRENT residents of NJ are strongly encouraged to apply (to allow for program visits), but we welcome "thinkers" and "doers" from across the United States. We emphasize however that all candidates MUST CURRENTLY reside in the US. YPC members are driven, committed, and passionate individuals who are excited to use their work, wealth and wisdom in support of SoulPhamm's vision. As emerging philanthropic leaders, YPC will pool their talents and resources to support SoulPhamm's success. They will do this by helping us "think through" signature fundraising, educational and social events that create community, build awareness, foster engagement and gain visibility and support for SoulPhamm's programs. Members who are local to NJ will then be responsible for helping to plan and execute these programs and activities. YPC members will also, according to their skills and interests, be hands-on with the young people by teaching virtual classes and virtual workshops, leading special groups and coaching sports (if local to NJ). Meetings for YPC will happen virtually on the third Thursday of every month from 7pm to 8pm but there is more "consistent touch" through our online workgroup and if the group finds a rhythm, they can elect to have more consistent meetings independent of the Director. To apply, candidates will have a brief Zoom interview with the Director and then upon completion of an application, can join the first scheduled meeting of the season - Thursday, September 19th at 7pm.
