Location: In person / virtual hybrid - HB Lee Middle School: 1121 NE 172nd Ave, Portland, OR 97230
Schedule: After school from 2:45 - 5:00pm. Once or twice a week, days can be chosen by volunteer
Program Description:
IRCO's Promise Neighborhoods Initiative (PNI) coordinates a two-generation (parent and child)
continuum of support focused on increasing student performance and family resilience. PNI and its
partners approach their work with a shared commitment to achieving equity through the provision of
culturally specific and responsive best practices and an implementation framework grounded in a strong
evidence base.
Position Summary:
This volunteer will help students (grades 6-8) with their homework for all academic subjects including
Math, Writing, Reading, Literature, and Science. Volunteer should have English language skills, be able
to help students gain confidence in academic subjects and teach students how to effectively work on
and complete homework tasks. This program is looking for a friendly, kind and positive person who is
willing to help students learn.
Qualifications:
* Positive, Energetic and committed to the role
* General knowledge of academic subjects
* Willing to drive to HB Lee Middle School
* Must have experience and comfortability working with diverse and multi-cultural populations
Time Commitment: At least 3 months to 1 year commitment
Requirements:
* Must be 18 or older
* Must pass background check from Reynolds School District
