At the Brookside Food pantry we serve people from all communities imperishable and fresh food items every Monday, Tuesday and Friday mornings from 9:15am-12:15pm.
There are a variety of positions that a volunteer can participate in by choice. They are listed below.
Brookside Hunger Center Volunteer Positions
Bag and Box Packer:
Volunteer works behind the scenes to pack imperishable items in boxes and bags in order to prepare for the distribution of the bags and boxes. Volunteer must be able to lift 20lbs.
Distribution:
Volunteer interacts directly with client in filling bags with additional food items and distributing the boxes and bags to client. Volunteer must be able to lift 20lbs.
Intake:
Volunteer interacts directly with client through taking identification card, verifying address and family size, and writing on paper family size for distributor. Volunteer must be semi-comfortable with using a computer as we use ServeSafe software.
For all positions there will be a walk through and training process for volunteer to bring comfortability.

Mission Statement
WELCOME TO SVDP CLEVELAND! Help us to help the Society of St. Vincent de Paul help others. Part of a worldwide network committed to person to person service to anyone in need, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in the greater Cleveland area serves thousands of men, women and children annually. We do so with over 1,000 local volunteers focusing on local needs. This means meeting people face to face and never shying away from new and emerging challenges to those we serve. We meet poverty where it exists. In Cleveland since 1865 as a Catholic lay (non-clergy) organization, we engage our volunteers (known as Vincentians) through regular meetings that enhance their ability to serve.
