Volunteering with hospice care patients is so rewarding. Non-medical volunteers provide companionship visits providing an opportunity for the patient to have a caring person in the home. Some patients enjoy someone watching TV with them or someone playing and listening to music with them that's familiar from their past. Not all patients on hospice care are bedbound and non-communicative. Many patients have received a terminal diagnosis of 6 months to live or less and that could mean that they are still active and are just in need of support as the navigate their of life journey. Other needs could be someone to walk the patient's dog, take trash out to a dumpster, pick up mail from a mailbox. Non-direct patient care is also needed such as making phone calls remotely to patient and or caregiver weekly.
We would love for you to join our team. Volunteers also participate in social activities that help in team building. We have fun. Contact me for more information and welcome to the Team.
