ORGANIZATION: Violence Intervention Program (VIP)

The childcare center is a space where client’s/caregiver’s children or siblings ages 4 and under are looked after while they attend therapy sessions with clinicians. Volunteers can interact with children by playing, reading, roleplaying, etc., which can ultimately help develop the children’s oral and social skills. The childcare center is open Monday-Thursday 10:00 AM-6:00 PM and Friday 10:00 AM-3:00 PM.

About Violence Intervention Program (VIP)

Location:

1721 Griffin Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90031, US

Mission Statement

Charged with the mission of protecting and advancing the welfare of at-risk children and families, VIP seeks to significantly better their lives through comprehensive programs that promote not only healing, but also self-confidence and personal empowerment.

Description

Since 1984, the Violence Intervention Program (VIP) has been a national leader in building transformative programs that raise the standard of care for all survivors of power-based violence in Los Angeles County. With over 30 years of proven successes, our hallmark approach to care continues to be an effective model for intervention, treatment, and prevention in order to promote healing for survivors of violence, as well as prevent future violence.

Today, VIP functions as a public-private partnership between the publicly-funded VIP Children's Medical Village at the LAC+USC Medical Center and our private nonprofit, the VIP Community Mental Health Center, Inc. (VIP-CMHC). The first of its kind in Los Angeles County, VIP serves as the largest and only clinic open 24/7 for the comprehensive evaluation and treatment of child abuse cases in Los Angeles County, seeing approximately 20,000 victims of abuse and family violence each year.
