Mission Statement

Charged with the mission of protecting and advancing the welfare of at-risk children and families, VIP seeks to significantly better their lives through comprehensive programs that promote not only healing, but also self-confidence and personal empowerment.

Description

Since 1984, the Violence Intervention Program (VIP) has been a national leader in building transformative programs that raise the standard of care for all victims of child abuse in Los Angeles County. With over 30 years of proven successes, our hallmark approach to care continues to be an effective model for intervention, treatment, and prevention in order to promote healing for victims of violence, as well as prevent future violence.

Today, VIP functions as a public-private partnership between the publically-funded VIP Children's Medical Village at the LAC+USC Medical Center and our private nonprofit, the VIP Community Mental Health Center, Inc. (VIP-CMHC). The first of its kind in Los Angeles County, VIP serves as the largest and only clinic open 24/7 for the comprehensive evaluation and treatment of child abuse cases in Los Angeles County, seeing approximately 18,000 victims of abuse and family violence each year.

Would you recommend Violence Intervention Program (VIP)?

I volunteered at Violence Intervention Program for about 8 months and I had so much fun with the kiddos. The staff was very friendly and the facility had a lot of games for the kids. I enjoyed returning every week to help with homework and art projects.
