By being a First Friend, you are setting a precedent of a positive impact on newly arriving refugees in your community by assisting them in their first months in the United States.

Some duties include helping refugees find places near their home such as grocery stores, churches, health clinics, and clothing stores. In addition, as a First Friend you will spend social time together with the refugee or refugee family you are assigned, and in certain cases, practice English together, if the family or individual is not yet conversational in English.

Fingerprint clearance and driving authorization will be required of volunteer as part of this role also includes driving and spending time with the refugee or refugee family you are assigned.
